Westport (15 minutes from Newport)
The Course was designed by the internationally renowned Golf architect, Fred Hawtree who said of the course "the nature of the terrain, part inland and part seaside, the panorama which it commands and its considerable golfing virtues, make it uniquely attractive and memorable."

Westport Golf Club, which played host to the 2002 Smurfit Irish P.G.A. Championship, is a magnificent 18 hole parkland course with breath taking views of Croagh Patrick and Clew Bay. A comfortable opening six holes allows the foundation of a solid round to be laid before the course steps up a gear with the newly shaped 7th hole.
This is quickly followed by the 8th which has also undergone major improvements with water front and right and a newly shaped green providing a challenge to all.
Finally there is the 18th – the new feature hole at the Carrowholly course. This is a monster par 5 with water all the way up the right hand side culminating in another massive undulating green. A warm welcome is guaranteed.
Castlebar (20 minutes from Newport)
Castlebar Golf Club was founded in 1910 and the course was designed and built in its current layout by Peter McEvoy in 2001.
The Course has been built to USGA specifications, measuring 6,500 yards, Par 71, with sand based greens and many water features. Visitors are welcome, individually or in groups.
Claremorris (45 minutes from Newport)
Claremorris Golf Club is an 18 hole parkland course and was designed by Irish International and Walker Cup player the late Tom Craddock Malahide who, with Pat Ruddy, also co-designed the world famous course at Druids Glen, Co. Wicklow, host to the Irish Open on many occasions.
Situated on the former estate of Lord Oranmore and Browne, Claremorris Golf Club is a spectacular par 73 layout measuring 6131 metres and has an idyllic setting with mature Oak, Ash and Elm a feature on many holes and with USGA spec sand based greens that are comparable to the best in the country.
Ballina (45 minutes from Newport)
Ballina Golf Club offers one of the most scenic parkland courses in the West of Ireland.
Situated in the heart of the unspoilt Moy Valley region, an area of great natural beauty. The specifications of lush fairways and carefully manicured greens, guarded by water hazards and artful bunkers create an interesting, testing and fair golf course. The eighteen hole course is an ideal setting offering the golfer variety, challenge, interest and above all, enjoyable golf.

Ballinrobe (40 minutes from Newport)
Ballinrobe Golf Club was laid out and designed by the well known and late Mr. Eddie Hackett. The course is a true championship test playing a par 73 for the gents measuring over 7,300 yards.
Ballinrobe has matured into one of the finest parkland courses in Ireland and has hosted several amateur tournaments in affiliation with the GUI and ILGU. Most recently, “The World Military Games” was hosted in Ballinrobe which drew over 100 participants from all continents of the globe.
Ballinrobe has sand based contoured greens which are playable all year round. The course is set in medieval surroundings which includes Tower Houses, Limekiln Plants and Stone Monuments as part of the natural surroundings. Mature Trees, manmade lakes and stone walls add to the unique experience of golf in Ballinrobe Golf Club.
Carne Links, Belmullet (75 minutes from Newport)
This new exciting links has a natural setting on incomparable beauty. It was designed by Eddie Hackett around splendid sand dunes on ancient commonage. The elevated tees and plateau greens exploit the magnificent backdrops over Blacksod Bay and over a string of Atlantic islands including Inishkea, Inishglora and dramatic Achill. If you are distracted by the scenery, the deceptive dog-legs and lurking bunkers will soon ensnare you. The course plays long with the ubiquitous wind defying your efforts to achieve the challenging par 72.
